Some of them aren’t violent
nor even pretty
as a fresh snowfall
though can be deadly

A subtle kind of killer
that disturbs the sleep
saps the strength of even
the strongest man and woman

The third this year here in Ottawa
and Summer’s only started
with all windows closed again
to unwelcome intruder

In eastern Canada we’re used to
weather’s shenanigans
but our friends to the west
aren’t so luck

Across the prairies
on into British Columbia currently
under a different kind of dome
many without air conditioner
