When demanding attention
agile as only a cat can be
she hops from floor to bed
then casually skips onto
computer table
where whatever work
is in progress
suddenly preempted

Coffee raised to shelf above
keyboard pushed forward
as much as possible
to give her room
as she delicately maneuvers
back and forth across
what space is available
a four-legged ballerina
curious as only a cat can be

Petting and ear scratches
are welcome even advisable
while the exploration
cheek nuzzling of wooden surfaces
continues until she satisfied
that all is in order
jumps down to the floor
