He’s always been accessible to large and small
though sometimes has to shut out the world
information comes in from many different sources
assembled without complaint into new poems

The history speaks for itself
artist always in control of the horizontal and vertical
and though some may say
he put himself in harm’s way to get the story
rumors slowly incorporated into the legend
partially true
for even in his darkest hours when there seemed no hope
knew Poetry would be there to take him to safety
