Every day
hundreds of flights land
all over Canada
from around the world
Europe India Brazil China Japan

Though the United States
was closed off months ago
the planes keep coming in

At first
they said it would be racist
to cut off Italy and others
while the rest of us
locked in our homes

Only now
in the middle of third wave
is the government considering
further restrictions

Author's Note: Later, the day this was written, the federal government imposed a ban on all flights coming from India and Pakistan, due to a high number of infected travelers, and major outbreak of variant in those countries. Future expansion of the ban to other parts of the world is possible.
