It’s cool to be old
after all
most of us are there already
or almost there
with the population shift
tilting in our favor
though won’t last long
for some more than others
so enjoy while it lasts

Grey hair is the best
a sign you’ve arrived
like a medal
badge of accomplishment
second childhood baby
It’s a hoot!

Though the body doesn’t work
as well as it used to
no reason to cry
though tears do come easier these days
but hey!
nowadays
there’s a drug for this or that
everything
though judging by the warnings
the side effects will probably kill you faster
than the causals

With maturity
Sex is great
if not better
shedding the uncertainties of earlier years
and though it takes some of us
a little longer to get going
by now
we don’t have to prove anything to anyone

Needless to say
at times
we certainly feel our age
while at the same time
taking comfort knowing
there’s probably something as good
if not better
on the other side
