Safe to say
most Finance ministers are intelligent people
at least in the numbers department
some not so much
when it comes to
common sense scruple
as the Ontario MPP from Ajax recently demonstrated

Against his own government’s policy
of stay at home at all costs
not catch or spread the virus
while many are losing their businesses
in this latest lockdown
the obviously well-off Minister Phillips
has hightailed it down to the Caribbean
for two weeks
the luxury resort of St. Barts no less

Although most of us reluctantly gave up
family and friend gatherings this festive season
at least until the vaccine arrives
not to worry
Rod left us all a Christmas gift-video on Twitter
espousing well wishes and wisdom
by the fireplace
to the great unwashed of this embattled province
with gingerbread house and eggnog at his side
to make it appear that he’s still in town

Alas the ruse (as always) fell through
Premier Ford ordering his royal ass back to Canada

Don’t forget to quarantine for 14 days
Minister Phillips
plenty of time to write out your resignation
