I went to school in NC
Cigarettes were really cheap
Bars would serve anyone
People were friendly

I lived with a very nice,
albeit straight Virginian
and her friend; a total alcoholic
The room smelled like a brewery

I went out with a guy from Charlotte
who went to Chapel Hill
lived in a jock dorm
for no apparent reason
He was an art major
We went to a small ice cream place
who served the best ice cream- cheap
Life was good
I really liked NC

but I got sick
in my Sophomore year
and left

I felt like I had failed
myself
