What Is In a Name

by Joan Serratelli

Because my last name was long;
My Mom gave me a short first name

When I named my kids I shouted
the name out loud
Then when I had the kid;
I changed my mind

I named my dogs after Dead Presidents

All but one
and that wonderful dog only lived
4 short years

I REFUSED to name my kids after people
who had severe problems
Died TOO young

It's kind of ironic
how people get their names

A lot of thought
I tried to be so
careful

A name can make
a big difference

No-one likes their names

Not sure if I agree with that last line, but good story telling, kept me interested from start to finish. Kudos!
