To A Guy Named Ford by Chris Sorrenti
Admit it buddy
you screwed up this time real good
as you stand foaming at the mouth
behind the podium
at the Auditor General’s report
in my humble opinion
she had every right to point out
your state of mixed messages confusion
And I’m not intimidated by your bully boy size
trusty literary sling shot by my side
though I may have to call in the heavy artillery
now where did I put that poetic baseball bat?
As you continue dancing with your COVID partner
Dr. David Williams
but who is leading and who is following?
one day it’s him
the next it’s you
depending which way the wind blows
your minister of Health
Christine Elliott ready to cut in
wipe that stupid grin off your face woman
you’re as much to blame as the other two
Putting Toronto into another lockdown
to hell with the mom and pops
hanging by their fingernails
Etobicoke’s Adamson Barbeque to name but one
while the region’s Costcos and Walmarts
remain open to the multitudes
groceries are fine
but why haven’t you roped off their TV screens etc.?
when all that stuff can be purchased online
While in my own political ambiguity
a fiscal Conservative with social Liberal leanings
in the next election
don’t count on getting my vote
