Shallow by Chris Sorrenti
Dive head first
Into the elevator shaft of Life
Looking for a room on another floor
But if you can’t stop the fall
Then that’s fine – you’ll keep on going
Until you hit the bottom of the shaft
Climb back out again
No worse for wear save a bruised ego
And what will you find there?
You won’t know till you’ve arrived
Trying to complicate something
That to others is quite simple
By breaking down and analyzing it
For whatever inspiration it might have
On the outside you look normal
Maybe a little too quiet
Cause you’re really falling inside yourself
Your CPU on overtime
Breaking down any bits of knowledge
You happen to come across in the journey
More than a little frustrating
When you come up emptyhanded
Falling too far and fast inside yourself
No way to shake the weariness
Except fall asleep again
No sense getting upset
Just have a good laugh
On this crazy hotel we call Life
Even if partially at your own expense
Though reassured
Cause you’ve only scratched the surface
Of an ocean called Infinity
When all this time
You thought you were deep
But you were only shallow
