never never

by Peter Humphreys

the grey green sea
battling back
unwanted children
in froth foaming waves
pushing back adults
wondering what to
or not to do
not that the sea cares
it whips and wanders
those with plans
how dare they
a million years
I've covered this sand
these rocks
that humans think are theirs
never
never
when humans lose the battle
they created
I'll be here
yes, here I'll be

Peter, I picture the relentless power of the sea here - "battling back," "froth foaming waves," "whips and wanders." It makes me think of refugees trying to reach safe haven, long-ago travelers finding islands, those who figured out how to read the waves, the weather and survive this method of travel. I enjoyed this very much.
