Gobbledygook by Chris Sorrenti
I was flabbergasted to learn
You had been impressed by the malarkey
But there again not so surprising
Knowing your natural state of discombobulation
And how you can bamboozle your way
Into or out of anything
Before skedaddling
Poppycock! you say
As you fix the thingamajig on your bicycle
So that it connects properly
With the whojockapivy
As your dad used to call it
Not trying to suggest you’re a dingleberry
Or pass you a load of codswallop
But you are who are
Words and all
Though plenty of time
To lean the meanings of life
Cause hey!
You’re still a whippersnapper
Even at 62
Admittedly
Even begrudgingly
One of your better qualities
To persnickety everything you encounter
Sort them into various boxes in your mind
For future use
Even if it causes the occasional kerfuffle
Which makes me look like a nincompoop
Or at least flummoxed
No regrets though
The two of us canoodling with the best of them
So let’s just leave it as a little gobbledygook
To go along with our Pumpernickel
Green eggs and ham

08/19/2020 Author's Note: Inspired by the above meme, thought it would be fun to take all the words, and write them into a poem. A few I had never heard of, and so, looked up their meanings, so that the poem would make some kind of sense. With special thanks to Dr. Seuss for the closing line.
