at midnight
when everything in the living room would be dark
except for the picture tube glow
furnace breathing in the basement
the only other sound
it would come on

With the music (no lyrics)
my life...good and bad
danced before my eyes
to leave me only wanting more
but it would never stay

It made me feel so alone
yet still had to listen
even if I didn’t watch the movie
for it also made me happy
and wondered
if others did too

That’s years ago
now
I can’t remember how it went
but I’ll never forget what it did to my soul
and helped prepared me
for what lay ahead
