Smiles can only travel so far
well wishes do only so much
from behind a face mask

Unmasking the mask
is what we all want
live to see
no matter when
that day will come

Meanwhile
we share that same haze
2 meters apart
or even further
love ones
who haven’t been seen in months

It’s visible at the supermarket
for though mouths are covered
the eyes say it all
fatigue and frustration

Their energies ride electronic waves
across phone lines and Wi-Fi
unlimited download
for just a few extra dollars
when the system hasn’t crashed

Lack of activity on the Web
rises and falls
as the population fights back
making them feel good...better
if only for a short while
till reality returns
