Burgundy Red by Chris Sorrenti
I wear a robe of imagery
across the waves
of the deep blue sea
for Man is just a school of fish
swimming in a ocean of words
looking for the answers
from The Man
who could be leader
his wisdom but a color
cast in Burgundy Red
Like a high priest at a sacrifice
the only victim Ignorance
I pray to the energy
that created me
flaunting with The Beast
that still will call my name
his ignoring the obvious
my coat of Burgundy Red
Pretty girls in a row
seductive clothes smiling
their fragrance
makes me shiver
a mountain is the thought
that I’ll never make love to them
yet still inside I am glad
to be wearing Burgundy Red
As in the future
they may know me
or come to know my words
my body to turn dusty
slowly growing musty
just a book upon a shelf
when they open to the pages
let them read Burgundy Red
