Goes without saying
we all like to thump the Bible
from time to time
that most impressive book of poetry
and wisdom

Nothing wrong in this
as long as we don’t misquote
the location or
misinterpret the meaning
of those sacred lines

An acquaintance
recently remarked
“God hates violence. Genesis.”
in response to one of my
military aviation postings
on Facebook

I was taken aback by his response
In that first of all
I find it hard to believe that
God would hate anything
and that war as distasteful as it is
leads to spiritual growth
and further evolution of the species

But in Genesis of all places?
as I recall a book in the Bible
that describes the creation of the world

So I asked him
“Where in said book does it say this?”
to which he never responded

I have since unfriended him
