seems surreal

even sublime

watching TV commercials

sitcoms and movies

some of them filmed

only weeks ago


families and friends

gathered

in various quantities

at any number of events

in homes and restaurants

airliners and cruise ships

smiling and laughing

in celebration

of life


but that was yesterday

and

this is today
