Living on the edge of nuclear catastrophe
we wallow in materialism waiting for The Bomb
while the other half of population starves in poverty
and yet ironically enough
it may never come to pass
not in our lifetime nor our children’s

Acid Rain is falling from the heavens
hazardous waste and toxic chemicals
taint our water
smudge the land

The sexual revolution’s been put on hold
Gonorrhea and Syphilis giving way
to Herpes and AIDS
is it divine punishment then?
for our arrogant forgetfulness of God
we expose ourselves
to these carcinogens of the mind
