Believe me
I’m no fan of Justin Trudeau

Aside from legalizing Marijuana
I’ve been largely disappointed with his
lack of progress on pipelines
angered by the SNC Lavalin debacle
among several other things

At the time of the 2015 election
I firmly believed Legalization
another Liberal gimmick to get elected
never thought they’d follow through

In the past I’ve put on white face
at Halloween
to dress up as Alice Cooper
later Dracula
should that be viewed then
as discrimination against movie monsters?
Shock Rock stars?
or for that matter
my own Caucasian white skin?

No!
of course not
don’t be silly

Should Trudeau have known better in 2001?
perhaps
but who amongst us hasn’t done something
in our past
that we now regret
a combination of immaturity
lack of foresight
the old
“It seemed like a good idea at the time”
that with attained experience and wisdom
we would never dream of doing today

Did he do it to purposely insult colored people?
of course not
he was dressed in full Aladdin costume at a gala
earlier blackfaced in high school
performing to Belafonte’s Banana Boat Day O song

And let us not forget
Political Correctness
was still in its infancy in 2001
who knew what it would become
especially in the decade that followed

He has apologized
so a word to all you politicians
and so called expert newscasters
stop blowing it out of all proportion

Poetic Justice
never fails to impress or amaze me
especially in the political arena
in light of Andrew Scheer’s 2005 homophobic speech
resurfaced by the Liberal war machine

I look forward to seeing Justin Trudeau
defeated in the next election
or at least reduced to a minority government
based on his political record over the past four years
and not because of a moment of bad judgement
almost 20 years ago
