Often
the solution to a problem
is easier identified from
outside the box
most certainly in politics

Not that Canada
especially Toronto
doesn’t have its share of
this kind of issue

As once more
we see the candle light vigils
this time for
El Paso and Dayton
the same day no less
new days and dots of infamy
added to the map

And if lines were drawn
between those places
the ones before and ahead
to quote Sir Walter Scott
“Oh, what a tangled web we weave”

To recognize
the irony and paradox of
“United we stand
divided we fall”
“Don’t tread on me”
echoing from the past
meant for another country
not from within

The solution to this problem
all too simple
though sadly...
