from my earliest recollection
I’ve been visually stimulated
zooming in on geometry
natural and man made
whether in the physical world
states of mind
one of the few things
that’s kept me going
capturing the universe
in its infinity
whether colourful
or bland
simple
complex
it’s all beautiful to me

and as my writing
it often consumes me
but in a good way
so many photographs
so many words
so little time
in this realm
my own obsession
a small taste of Heaven
to help beat back the chaos

no matter how much
I organize them
at times it doesn’t seem
good enough
then through discouragement
remind myself
of how much progress
I’ve made since yesterday

and as the Haida teach
every picture captured
takes away
a part of the soul
maybe
not such a bad thing
always giving back
a piece of myself
in combination
with the world around
