Shalimar has become over-extended
though certainly not yet expired
lines of communication
stretched to the limit
even broken in some places
though the Arnprior invasion
has been a success
so far

It’s all become quite boring
and the irony -
on a life prolonging cocktail of drugs
some days he has trouble
getting out of bed
doesn’t see the point of it
what’s it matter?
“In a few short years I’ll be dead”

But Shalimar still has much to accomplish
one day he’s up like Superman
rescuing his planet from the Blue Meanies
shrinking them down
to a manageable size
though they always find that one hole
in the plastic bag
