So far
the only real winners seem to be
the illegal dealers
“the guy”
as a popular radio talk show host
likes to call him
especially since all the pot shops
have been shut down

25 licenses
up for grabs across the entirety
of Ontario
only 5 for the National Capital Region
bids submitted with a business plan
the winners picked from a list of hundreds
maybe thousands

And a catch
the new Cannabis stores must be open
by April
or face thousands of dollars in fines

Property must be secured
or better leased
with strict rules as to location
a specific distance
from the nearest school(s)

Which is noble
though somewhat ironic
not to mention naive
cause anyone who wants to smoke
regardless of age
has their own version
of “the guy”
