It’s only a plant...weed
But what a weed!

So beautiful
in the eyes of so many beholders
colors...shape...
serrated leaves
perfect symmetry...geometry

Some plants feed us
others can kill us
and yet others
by accident or design?
feed the soul

Yes, God is indeed great!

Only adding to the attractiveness
vivacious flower tops
fertile...sticky and pungent
with new realities...dreams
the ultimate aphrodisiac

Vilified in the past (Reefer Madness)
...present
by party poopers of the worst kind
literally and politically
based on ignorance, fear...dogma

Yet as so many underdogs
with roots deep and strong
it will not stop reaching for
the sun and sky

Evidence
anecdotal...researched
of health benefits never imagined

And though in the end
it is after all only a weed
as all things on this mortal plain
best celebrated
in moderation
