there's an avalanche building
dangerous but so beautiful
grinding into diamonds
the fertile muck

then you better learn to run
she won't be slowing down
till the welcome mat's been placed

the lonely are looking for employment
in the unlikeliest of places
qualifications interchangeable
with the tone of the times

If you want Tommy
then you better learn to fly
silver bird's going away
where your smile can't reach him
though others are sure to catch
the gleam in his eye

some things of course
are always left to chance
who needs a time machine
to see what the future brings?
