the trick is finding that next thing to look forward to
as short lived as it may be
it’s only human nature we start off with the shortest route
to stimulate the brain cells
on the way from A to Z
then back again to A

it’s always just a spin of the dial
like any game in life
though dead serious in the initial reckoning
we fall short of the target
only to lengthen the span of the jump
so eventually we get to where we have to go
