All of my Friends by Thomas K. HuntI just had a thought
Something just crossed my mind
It was a thought I hadn't thought of in a while
but when I thought it, it made me smile
I have these friends
They know who they are
We shared the same moons
under a blanket of stars
Now we share different skies
yet we see the same light
That light will never die
It will always shine bright
All of my friends you know who you are
We share scars from under that blanket of stars
Scars from laugher and some from pain
Scars from a town with a strawberry lane
We'll go searching for our memories
Trace our paths back in time
Looking for smiles we left behind
Lost memories found in a rhyme
The smiles tell the stories
of all my long lost friends
You know who you are
Those smile's will never end
We'll always feel the same way
Nothing can tare that apart
True friends until our dying day
We share each others heart
Lock those smiles away
Save them for a rainy day and for
all those times you feel like a frown
grab a smile and turn it upside down
All my friends
We'll be friends to the end
that alone just made me smile
Amother smile to add to the pile
We did our time in our own style
It was our time, it was the best of times
To this day it still bring a smile
from a thought I haven't thought of in a while
All of my friends
You know who you are
Our bodies have traveled
Our hearts not that far

Posted by Glenn Currier on 08/07/18 at 03:53 AM What an absolute delight! I love the flowing rhymes and how they seem so natural and appropriate. But more than anything the words: smiles and friends stick out. What a smile can do! It can turn a potential conflict into a moment of connection. So well said, Thomas. You are a terrific poet. |
