Each day I’m bombarded
with dozens of ideas
images and words
pirouette in my head
whirling dervishes
each one fighting for a place on the page

And in case you’re wondering
I’m well aware of what’s going on in the world

Children forcefully separated from their parents
trade wars unnecessary
senseless violence
etc. etc.
everywhere

And it troubles me
that I don’t have the answers
can’t always find
the right combination of wisdom
to fit on that same page

But this poem’s a good start
