I Should Be On My Way

by Thomas K. Hunt

I should be on my way
I've got to get away
I should leave today
It's what I always say

Tomorrow will be just another day
I'll wake up and again I'll say
I should be on my way
I say the same thing everyday

I know I'm way out of place
It's been a while since I've shown my face
I need to be back in my space
I need to pickup my pace

I wear the same watch everyday
I watch the time ticking away
That's the time you'll hear me say
I should be on my way

Circumstances and responsibilities
You never know where you're
going until you get there and see
Miles away from where I shoulld be
I just said it again to me

I should be on my way
I say the same thing everyday
I said it again just today
Tomorrow I'll have the same to say

There's never a day that goes by
that I don't hold all the reasons why
and like I always say
I should be on my way

I should be on my way
I need to get away
I should leave today
It's what I always say

I'm all talk
I don't walk the walk
I just sit back and say
I should be on my way

Thomas,I like the flow of this. I can definitely see it is a lyric. I also like the variety, the steady rhymes and the non-rhyming lines. The poem/lyric got me to thinking about how you theme has been a theme in my life. Too long sitting in the status quo. Needing lots of stimulation to banish boredom, then feeling guilty about that need. On the other hand, if I am not on my way or His way, then I am not growing. But for now, I should be on my way. Thanks so much.
