Off The Deep End

by Chris Sorrenti

in the immortal words of Monty Python...
“And now for something completely different.”

here I go again
off the deep end

but I ain’t talkin' ‘bout no swimming pool
no plunge into infinity
I’m the jock strap
protecting the jewels of abstractia
the safe jacket
wrapped around the lunatic fringe
can I help it if some of it rubs off on me?

off the deep end

got a cyborg magnification
over my chameleon eye
got the cherry beautiful women
driving me blind
and the crazy powder’s getting itchy
causing me to sneeze
why must I always end up
down on my knees?

off the deep end

I’m an alcoholic
drunk on language
words intoxicating me
like a cheerleader’s inner thighs

in one hand
I hold a psychedelic typewriter
in the other
five speed destiny

what the hell am I doing here?
who do I think I am?!

maybe you can tell me
before I jump
once more

off the deep end
