Holistic Manor by Chris Sorrenti
Welcome one and all to Holistic Manor
where nothing is ever complete
it all looks so rosy on your living room TV
yet tear off the colorful wrapping
there's always a missing piece
Some fortunate enough to be rich and famous
believing themselves above the other guests
and in one sense - certainly are
despite all having to sit on toilet seats
though some prefer square to round
There are butlers and maids
to clean up your well placed messes
though you might find yourself
swept under the carpet as well
for here - we’re accountable for our words
and certainly our actions
though given no choice but to visit this place
Yes - welcome one and all to Holistic Manor
your stay here a fait accompli
all passing through -
unfinished works of art in an indifferent universe
though a few visitors
seeing themselves as the center of it
so isn't it humorous
when their stars don't light up
but prefer instead chucking moons at them

03/14/2018 Author's Note: Not well received by my writing critque group, Jury Room Workshop. They had trouble with the title, and how it applies to the subject of the poem. Admittedly stretching the meaning of the word ‘Holistic’, a personal favorite, and example that one should write to please him or herself, first of all, especially if done in an honest manner, as I did.
