A Billion Dollar Baby

by Chris Sorrenti

Keep up the tension
Never let the spring unwind
God only knows
What you go through sometimes

Rock n’ Roll isn’t what it used to be
Nowadays
You have to be an acrobat
Have a P.H.D. in pyrotechnics
Electrical engineering

But you’re working on it
And it’s coming along
Slowly so slowly
But every day that passes
A little more strong

Feel the satisfaction
That others have felt
As they reached for the top
Realize the useless tries that
Toppled the weak ones off the sound

A billion dollar baby
Has its cradle in your songs
It’s up to you to nourish it
And carry Rock along
