The Lucky Ones II

by Chris Sorrenti

A love that will never be tainted
Or destroyed
By the weaknesses...imperfection
Of this mortal world

And though
We’ve never been in a relationship proper
None the less
Always have
And though it may never be consummated
In reality
Over time
Grows steadily stronger

A rose on the vine never to be plucked
And though like any rose
In time it too must die
You have pollinated me with inspiration
And I you with poetry

Our children
A thousand roses plus strong
To live forever
Propagate in the minds and souls of others
Who will wonder at such a thing
