Drumpf

by Brian Francis

Oh he started with almost nothing
Say the facts, speaking alternatively
His father thought him a bully (1)
or so he said back in eighty-three

And he worked his way above the rest
Standing on the small man's back
He would agree to pay for the work they did
while conniving to take it all back

He married three times so far it seems
monogamy is not his thing
don't take stock in words he might say
or he'll insist that they never came

He decided to become a president
and the moment chose him well
on a platform of hate and intolerance
he divided his way to the top

Willing to wear any hat in a moment
while professing opposing ideas
he played to the moment and to the crowd
and found himself on the highest dais

Promising and Praising Israel one day
then warning them to abide his will the next
Or declaring our enemy to be our friend
while implying our friend a cheat and threat

Our government is now a twitterocrasy
and his petty little fears our fate
one hundred-forty words per blurted thought
countless and more times per day

his whims billow the sails - our ship of state
adrift on the treacherous seas of impetuousness
shoals of ego and narcissistic self delusion threaten
as sirens singing of days past draw us toward disaster

Well worded fairly accurate capture, Brian. Love the word: twitterocrasy. Interesting title also.
