You're In My Dreams

by Thomas K. Hunt

I saw your face again last night
Your soft voice spoke out to me
I couldn’t feel you in my arms
You were only in my dream

You're a vision that takes me back in time
I fall asleep to find you in my mind
Every night when I'm asleep in my bed
You're right there in the middle of my head

Some people say they have nightmares
With you, it could never be
I’m so complete in the midst of my sleep
When I have you next to me

I see your warm smile shine in your light
You whisper, "I'm here again tonight"
I see your eyes smile back at me
I feel the love like it used to be

I worked hard to show the veins in my arms
But they never came through for you
I wasn’t always by your side
That was something I couldn’t do

This isn't how it was meant to be
I thought you knew what you meant to me
I guess I thought too much
Now I only dream and miss your tender touch

Each night as I forget to breathe
You drift in like a summer breeze
Oh, how my slumber deceives
I often wonder do you dream of me?

I struggle with your memory
I try with all my might to forget
Still, you fill my dreams at night
I fill my waking hours with regret

That lingering love comes through very strong here, those wonderful dreams. This is tender in spite of not being near that person any longer.
