dad to be
does air band stomp
for centipedes and spiders
scurrying across basement floor
while mom in waiting
catches z’s
heavy metal’s children
ready to raise babies
man it’s crazy
trying to stay alive
in a real Monopoly game
video sings
materialistic meteor showers
inside the cellophane world
make a plan or sow a deal
we’re only puppets on a string
say a prayer
when you can find the time
but don’t try to find
no rhythm to the rhyme
just hook on
to that brave new future
as it orbits the rectangular norm
