Red Eyes

Senator McCarthy has red eyes
because of Langston Hughes
didn’t realize
poetry too got stars and stripes
no respect for a black man’s point of view
and from the left there comes a right
allowing the world to see
even scapegoats can rise above discrimination
on their way to immortality
