Breaking news
is often a lightning rod for the poet

Though Politics makes for complex analysis
days can pass before that
Eureka! moment beholds

Without an angle
a poem is not a poem

And this morning is no different
the writer is thankful to see another day

For in this current environment of
nuclear brinkmanship
the poet may not live to see the poem
