Current Event by Chris Sorrenti
draw me into this cartoon of madness
whichever way you see me
like Picasso’s Guernica
from the Spanish Civil War
a jig saw puzzle
with too many pieces lost to the carpet
where men mate with horses
rats to nuclear power
then dropped on their heads
at my doorstep as CNN segments
to be swept under the couch
of impassive resistance
American, Canadian…European
Middle and Far East
let us gorge on tainted tuna...
grandstanding shrimps
while the planet roils to the tune of
Dancing With Tears In My Eyes
as long as you don’t seek a
glass half full
beneath these purple clouds
feast…
feast…
feast!!!
to be expected
the gas pumps are volatile
while having sold my overpriced
set of wheels long ago
back to corporate fascism
and the megalomaniacs
who scramble for a touchdown
in Iraq and North Korea
yet still they seek my opinion
as to which way the weather will turn
while I set up camp in Antarctica
with only half a tent
my response...I have no answer
but there again
no shortage of clues
all together now kids!
let’s walk like penguins
