Royal Juxtapose - A Deeper Madness by Chris Sorrenti
The world mourns a princess who didn’t wear her seatbelt
beyond doubt, tragedy royale eclectically combined
youthful beauty deeper than skin cut down before full assessment
an impaired chauffeur, body guard sole survivor, himself buckled in, failed in his job
a wedding proposal to be made only in Heaven
rumors of another car, high level conspiracy
leaving a multitude of questions, what ifs, most never to be answered
the second gunman on the grassy knoll all over again
but let us look now past the oceans of flowers
Candle In The Wind, Marilyn Monroe obviously yesteryear’s news
and paint our broken hearts the colour of a spade
who after a hard day of charity, flirting with cameras, eventually to devour her
would go home to palace and diamonds
and let us view the opposite side of this earthen coin
where found another European face, turned willingly from gold to copper
a queen of hearts in her own right, never to be titled
who after decades of sacrifice would still rather go home to a convent than a castle
the only diamonds to call her own, citizens of the gutter
years of toil taking all surface beauty
and upon her own death had no song rewritten, no mass hysterical tears
oceans of flowers, leaving the world to ponder its own deeper madness
where a short burst of beauty and fame are valued more
than a lifetime of achievement by someone old and unattractive
in a place far less glamorous
