Chance or destiny -
What’s it mean to you?
Fate or luck -
You either win
Or you lose

And we know what it’s like
To be an actor in a play
We do the dance everyday
Like the Robins in the trees

Systematic or helter skelter?
Do the cards fall where they’re supposed to
Or is there some invisible force placing them there?

And the imagery of roads and storms
Is so very very true
You think of something new to do
But it’s already done

Chance or destiny -
Who really pulls the strings?
Fate or luck -
Just what does it all really mean?

Were we tossed away here
Like pebbles on a shore?
No intelligence behind the big bang
Just unified bits of matter
Or are we only pawns in a chess game?
Racing towards the king
Making moves on a checkerboard universe
Until we are removed
