working on it

by Uriel Tovar

The city hums in the vanishing horizon
As we pull away from those concrete and steel cages
Radiating in dark browns and burnt oranges
--Ninety hardly feels fast
Enough
Trying to separate ourselves
From whatever it is we are
Running from
Tethered limbs
Tearing
As connections to
Foundations become
Stretched and
Severed

Good poetic reminder we're all trying to run away...escape from something, but can never completely do so.
