I get lost in a rhyme and I don't know why
It happens when I sit down to write
It's happening again tonight

I get stuck on a word from something that I've heard
and the words begin to flow
Where they come from I don't know

They flow all the time forming these rhymes
Filling melodies arranged in my head
Laid down by my hand but do they understand?
Does it make sense when these rhymes are read?

There are times I don't know
but the words still flow just like they're flowing right now
I never know what's next
I'm never sure of the text
They just happen to appear somehow

I hope they bring a smile
to a face that hasn't smiled in a while
Or bring a tear
The joyful kind when someone reads one of my rhymes

Maybe it's my way of staying close
Sending out little rhyming notes
Maybe it's my my way of saying hello
When I get lost in a rhyme
it happens all the time
Why?
I just don't know
