Just Off The Yellow Brick Road

by Chris Sorrenti

I'm off the map
least that's where my starlings want to fly
no law saying we can't change our personal graphics
melt into the surrounding wallpaper

the yellow brick road's become too constrictive
damn those uniformed munchkins
and their speed limit signs
this puppy's howl is wide open
plowing surrounding wheat fields
with a long lost tricycle
which reminds me
I've still to read Catcher In The Rye

today I blow my own hour glass
leaving it neither half empty or half full
purposely wearing clothes
that make me look big
to remind myself not to overindulge

I like how I am now
neither limbo or purgatory
where the white coats put straight jackets
only on the sane
won't you excuse me if you can't come along
my starlings are calling
to fly away with them
at least until the next unscheduled train
