saltwater

by Melissa Arel

memories come rushing in like ocean waves, releasing and pulling back
eroding the ground beneath my feet I fall to my knees unaware.
oh, how my heart misses you.

as each remembrance sweeps over me I am left breathless
struggling under the weight of love misplaced, I reach for you
but you are gone and I am a castaway.

A beautiful metaphor...and the feelings rush you like a high incoming tide!
