Foundations

by Brian Francis

I've heard some people saying
that our country's no longer great
They can not seem to explain just how
And their hearts seem full of hate
they claim their vision for America
is such a better sort of path
Yet they can not explain just how
Because their words get in the way

But when I look at America
I see in my nation: pride
People standing together
while enjoying freedoms tide
Problems still assault the world
Our friends still stumble 'round
But our nation keeps on rising
getting better every day

God has blessed America
we are strong and proud and free
the foundation is set on bed rock
speaking constitutionally
And we will strive together
through all the strife of life
Our strength is found in our unity
no matter what fools may say

A strong, solid rhyme to this, great flow, an obvious love and support for our country. I think that title speaks to the basics of this country and its endurance in spite of nonsense put forth as truths. Surely "unity" is the key word to our survival. Thanks for this.

Well done Francis and well written. I feel we still have so many issues that should out in the open and on our minds every day. But then I ask for more than most of can really accept. Oh well, I just bide my time although I have little time left.
