Cousin Nicky

by Christina Bruno

he was

color on an empty

canvas

splattered

orange

blue

yellow in uneven

brilliant strokes

he had a brooklyn

edge

with an artist's build

his hands were his weapons

his mind his finest tools

laughs were contagious

when he walked into a room

he'd hold her hand

t-shirts and that orange fleece

a tattoo below his elbow

of a thick line spanning around

his arm

black glasses to match his hair

a silver ring

his persona

would jolt you

to a place

beyond comedy central

energy beyond control

benevolence

that could never be stopped

jokes that will never end..

I've come back to this many times this week. Really enjoyed the structure, phrasing, imaging. Thanks.
