Suspense At The Delta Montreal

it’s a battle of wills
the hotel’s against mine
eyeing the ‘complimentary’ basket of goodies
atop the petite armoire
folded price list barely visible in the back
$4.25 for a bag of peanuts
candy bars $3.50
tiny pot of coffee $5.95
after an hour
temptation proves too much
circumventing the competition
I dash across the street
to a dépanneur
for the same items
at one third the price
