Song of Myself, part 4 by Richard VinceEverywhere looks appealing in the dark.
When I choose the next garden in which
To root my life, I must examine
The soil in daylight, without
Romantic, seductive darkness to
Cloud my vision.
It is both a blessing and a curse
That I see good and bad in everything.
So many of my swords are double edged.
Now the time for objectivity is at hand.
I must weigh brilliance and flaws,
And find the light that shines brightest,
Is refracted most beautifully.
It is hard to find the tipping point
When all I see is balance.
03/05/2016 Author's Note: Title borrowed from, but content only very loosely inspired by, Walt Whitman. (Mine has far fewer parts than his.) A few words in this part were borrowed from Anita Mac's bits of "Crucible", on which she and I collaborated.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 04/25/16 at 04:59 PM Perhaps because politics is so in our faces these days, this made me think of the perfect piece to post on the wall of Congress, to encourage or preach (whichever) the ability to see the good and bad in everything and maybe from there, to make more balanced decisions. One can wish.... Thanks! |
