They Don't Call Us Anymore

by Chris Sorrenti

They don’t call us anymore
Is it peace?
Or is it war?

In a hair trigger society
Preoccupied with violence and strife
Friendship can be all too brief
Oh so very fragile
You’re OK
As long as you don’t get in my way
Or you don’t step on me

They don’t call us anymore
Well is it peace?
Or is it war?
Maybe the twilight zone
There’s no need to shoot daggers
Nor for heated discussion...

We don’t call them anymore
